Shorr Packaging Donates Packaging Equipment to Vincennes University Logistics Program

To support job retention and growth in Indiana, Shorr Packaging is donating state-of-the-art equipment to the Vincennes University Logistics Training and Education Center. The facility is designed to help logistics students, as well as packaging industry professionals in the area, get hands-on training in material handling and see demonstrations of cutting-edge packaging equipment.

"We are very happy to donate our equipment to the VU Logistics Program," said Dave Shorr, president of Shorr Packaging. "The facility not only trains students for a successful career in the packaging industry, but it also provides our customers with easy access to a demo center with all types of end-of-line packaging equipment in action."

Equipment being donated includes: case sealers, Lantech stretch wrappers, voidfill equipment, strapping machines, labeling equipment, Sharp autobaggers and DPI printing machines. In addition, Shorr is donating its private label ShorrExpress carton sealing tape and stretch film for use on the equipment.

By working directly with industry leaders such as Shorr Packaging, VU can tailor its educational programs and training to meet workforce demands – preparing students for employment opportunities upon graduation.

"Training and ongoing education are vital to keeping jobs in Indiana," said James Dolan, director of logistics at VU. "Participation from companies like Shorr is helping to make our program a success."

Open House Slated for January 27

VU is sponsoring a dedication ceremony and open house at the Training Center on January 27 at 11:30 AM EST. Lunch will be served.
