Eliminate Packaging Waste with Box Sealing Tape Automation

Wed June 10, 2009

Take the guess work out of tape application
When pressure sensitive box sealing tape is manually applied, some degree of packaging waste is almost certain.
  • Multiple strips of tape are applied when one is sufficient
  • Tape legs extend several inches down the side of the box
  • Wider than necessary tape is used to enable packers to center it along the width of the corrugated box

For medium and large volume tape users, this packaging waste is costly. However, by automating the tape sealing process with case erectors and case sealing equipment, packaging waste can be eliminated, ensuring that shipments arrive intact using the least possible amount of pressure sensitive tape.

Case Erectors and Case Sealers Fit Any Packaging Line Configuration

Case erectors such as the Combi 2EZ are designed specifically for carton erecting and bottom sealing. Other units, such as the Ergopack® Hand Packing System, integrate carton erecting, packing, and top sealing.

Case sealers offer great flexibility as well. The 3M 200a adjustable case sealer is ideal for sealing long runs of uniform sized corrugated boxes, while the 3M 700r random case sealer fits  operations where box sizes vary.

Our STAMP Packaging Management Team can assist you in determining which case erecting and case sealing systems are best suited for your operation. Factors to consider include line speed, sealing volume, case dimensions, case weight, available space, and environmental conditions.
