April 22nd is Earth Day – a globally recognized initiative bringing awareness to environmental protection that inspires action world-wide. At Shorr, it’s more than a one-day initiative; it’s a year-round commitment to reducing our customers’ and our own environmental footprint through sustainable packaging. We collaborate with industry-leading strategic partners and suppliers to develop a holistic approach to sustainability that covers every stage – from manufacturing to the consumer.
Our strategic sustainability pillars (eliminate, innovate, and circulate) guide how we design, source, create, and empower our customers to do the same.
Packaging plays a major role in environmental impact and poses a great opportunity for companies to make a tangible difference. We go beyond providing innovative packaging solutions; we advocate for sustainable business practices and work to foster a culture of environmental consciousness and stewardship.
According to our latest Sustainable Packaging Consumer Report, 54% of respondents reported deliberately choosing products with sustainable packaging in the past six months. Even more compelling, 90% said they are more likely to purchase from a brand or retailer if its packaging is eco-friendly. These statistics are a clear indication of the growing importance packaging has on both protecting the environment and in building consumer trust and loyalty.

Impact Through Initiative
On Earth Day, we’re hosting our annual park clean-up across each of our divisions to support our local communities. Last year, over 100 Shorr employee-owners came together and participated in Shorr-organized activities in our communities. Two of our divisions coordinated trash clean-up events, while seven Shorr locations planted indigenous trees native to their local environment.
We are proud to recognize the role of our employee-owners in being responsible stewards to our company, community, and planet.
This Earth Day, we challenge you to join us in turning your sustainability goals into real, achievable action. We’ve highlighted tools and resources readily available to help our customers track packaging impact, identify areas of improvement, and make more sustainable packaging choices, such as incorporating a product design for greater recyclability, fewer damages, PCR (post-consumer recycled content), and compostability.
Whatever your business aims to achieve, our specialists will listen closely and help you incorporate the sustainable product packaging that a growing number of consumers now expect.
