Throwback Thursday: "Phone for Prompt Service" Ad
Have you ever seen "old school" ads like these? WOW, right?
We love reminiscing with ads like this one (circa mid 1950's). Back when "Phone for Prompt Service" was the norm, instead of "Contact Us or Complete this Form" on the Internet today. Even the style of this ad is different with the clip-art caricatures and buildings that animate the page. The yellow tinge of the paper certainly lends itself to the era and adds character to this ad from decades ago.
Illinois Wholesale Co., Inc., was an important part of our Shorr history. In 1923, the Northern Illinois Candy company merged with the F.G. Watts Paper Company to become the Illinois Wholesale Company. From there, the history builds. In the beginning, they just sold paper bags, janitorial supplies, candy, chewing gum, and notions. By the time this advertisement was launched, the company had branched out and added paper, boxes, tape, and more to its line card.
Today Shorr Packaging sells a large variety of packaging products, such as bubble, air pillows, corrugated boxes, tape, and more. Automated packaging equipment (such as stretch wrappers, baggers, case sealers, and etc.) have been added to the lineup to help accommodate the growing businesses and build productivity. Many of Shorr's "value-added" solutions include national packaging programs, managed packaging solutions, kitting and assembly, and custom design. From the roots of the business in a single location, Shorr now serves the country with a nationwide network of warehouses.
Though the company has changed and expanded over the years, our same philosophy, in-depth knowledge, and personal service still perseveres and will continue as we move forward. As the ad says on its last page "Growth with Service"; we will continue to "Deliver World Class Packaging Solutions".
