Shorr - UN Climate Pledge

The Climate Pledge    

Shorr Packaging is committed to reducing our operations’ greenhouse gas emissions intensity and ultimately pledge net zero by 2040 at the latest. Ensuring a sustainable and environmentally conscious culture is significant to our company. We have developed robust policies on sustainability and Code of Conduct requirements for our suppliers. Being a UN Climate Pledge signatory aligns with Shorr’s sustainability mission: To ensure that we focus on actionable steps that eliminate waste and natural resource consumption, innovate customer solutions and products that deliver tangible and measurable impact, and circulate to minimize our customers’ and Shorr’s environmental footprint. We strive for the successful delivery of products the first time so that customers and consumers do not have to return damaged goods, thus reducing our environmental impact throughout every step of the supply chain.    

We encourage and expect all Shorr employees to conserve resources (energy, water, and waste) where possible. We track consumption and conduct recurring sustainability training, with the understanding that our next steps will be to improve operational energy efficiencies, incorporate renewable energies, and earn approved SBTis. This will be published in a public-facing sustainability plan. Shorr additionally serves as an advisor to our customers to support and further their sustainability journeys.   

We believe that climate change demands urgent and universal action. Shorr Packaging Corp. is proud to sign The Climate Pledge. We stand with  the other signatories of The Climate Pledge, in a commitment to being net zero carbon by 2040 at the latest across Scopes 1, 2 and 3 — ten years ahead of The Paris Agreement. In addition, as a signatory of The Climate Pledge, we will:  

  • Measure and report greenhouse gas emissions on a regular basis and published in a sustainability plan.  
  • Implement decarbonization strategies in line with the Paris Agreement through real business change and innovations, including efficiency improvements, renewable energy, material reductions, and other carbon emission elimination strategies.  
  • Take actions to neutralize any remaining emissions with additional, quantifiable, permanent, and socially beneficial offsets to achieve net zero annual carbon emissions by 2040.  

By joining The Climate Pledge, we are reinforcing our commitment to sustainability and we’re excited to join a community that will share knowledge, ideas and best practices.
